May it suck at least a little bit less than the previous one... And the one before it.
We all get sad at times.
Usually it passes. If there was a reason for sadness - there is always another reason to snap out of it.
But some times you just cannot snap out of it. It goes with you. It's everywhere. Every time you stop to catch your breath, stop from the constant flow of you day-to-day life - it catches up.
And me - I've got it in the worst way. I cannot be snapped out of sadness by other people. If someone feels a little bit sorry for me, shows compation, I get event deeper inside my depression, I shut out. I even start hating the person being nice to me for making me feel worse...
So - sadness - I welcome you. We are going to be together for a very long time.
What's your favorite holiday movie?
Well... Long time ago, 10 years actually, when I was living in Russia, I was really into the holiday spirit. You could feel it coming a month beforehand and get into the general cheer. Back then there was a Russian movie called 'S legkim parom' which I won't even try to translate :) The movie was synonymous to the concept of New Year's Eve and the celebrations. They've been playing that movie for like... 20 years I think. Can't remember how many times I've saw it.
I am not a religious person. By blood - I am Jewish, but that's as far as it goes... I celebrated to holiday for the sake of it, for the change of the year. For hope...
It all went to shitter when I came to Israel. We do have a 'New Year' holiday here. In September. With pathetic celebration and total absence of spirit. People go to their families, eat some symbolic meal and go home. When the December comes - no one cares. There is a Silvester holiday but it doesn't resemble in any way the cheer and happiness of the real New Year's Eve.
I know all this sounded bitter. But that's me.
This time, it's Ninja by Eric Van Lustbader.
A couple years back I got a hold of a book called Second Skin by the same author, which was the last one in a 6-part series about American-half-blood-Japanese-by-soul martial arts expert Nicolas Linear. I was really amazed by that book and immediately knew that I'll have to return to the beginning of the series at some point.
So, I've stumbled across it a couple of weeks ago and grabbed it. The book did not disappoint. It's a very interesting blend of action thriller (it has several well described fight scenes), history (thoughts on the US/Japan conflict and the war), inter-racial relationships (differences of culture and world perception) and romance. The story goes from fast paced detective story to a romantic novel to a in depth delve into Japan's history.
Conclusion: Very captivating and highly recommended.
Hi there.
I've moved my blog from Blogger site to VOX.
In the process - dates of the posts got screwed up. They are in correct order, but they appear as if they've been posted in the same minute :)
Hope this blog will be more fun to run than the one at Blogger.
Also, I will start posting stuff that I enjoy reading/listening to, to keep this blog more personal and less profession-related.
Cheers
11 days 8 hours 1 minute 24 second = 16321.24 minutes That's how much time I wasted in a very interesting place called Azeroth. Word of Warcraft captivated me for months, but now it's time to let it go. I've reached the maximum level, I've quested, I've PvP'ed, I met some nice people, I met tons of idiots... Just like in real life. This was a very interesting experience, but I think I am glad that it's over. So long, Azeroth, maybe we'll meet again some day.
Just dropping a little note here to let ya'll know that something is in the works at the Reflog's shop... http://reflog.googlepages.com http://code.google.com/p/pyterm/ More news to follow.
Here's a little preview of how plugins look in TurboBlog:
You can see here a 'Recent Posts' plugin, and a nifty little AJAX Chatterbox i.e. 'Shoutbox'. It took me about half an hour to write these, which is rather cool, considering this AJAX Shoutbox plugin idea that came up recently generated ALOT of buzz, for no apparent reason... Oh well. Have fun with it.
In other news - i just passed 111 posts ;)
